Julie's letter

Julie's letter to President Nixon (August 6, 1974)

"I sat in the Lincoln Sitting Room thinking about the resignation speech until 2 A.M. When I walked into my bedroom, I found a note from Julie on my pillow. She must have slipped over from her apartment and put it there.
If anything could have changed my mind at this point, this would have done it. But my mind was made up past changing. Not because I was tired and fatigued, and certainly not because I had given up, but because I felt, deep down in my heart and mind, that I had made the decision that was best for the country."
